Sounds Nice Studio
Energy and body work, sound meditation, and ecological ritual for the weird, wild business of being alive.
Welcome
What connects you to the magic of life?
Magic often comes through our senses: the smell of morning coffee, a cool breeze on our skin, the intuitive knowing of who’s calling before we pick up the phone. By paying attention to what makes us feel most alive – including what brings us sorrow as well as joy – we reconnect with our deepest selves and the currents of life that sustain us.Through sound meditation, breathwork, movement, vocalization, and community gathering, my work invites people to become more fully alive in the world. Drawing on my background in biology and the healing arts, I help people at every stage of life reconnect with:⋆ The wisdom of the body
⋆ The intelligence of the earth
⋆ The full spectrum of being human: pain, joy, ambiguity, and wonderThese practices can reduce stress, lift mood, spark creativity, and deepen our connection to one another and the world around us.To me, that is magic.

My Story
Nice to meet you
I’m a systems thinker and storyteller with a background in ecology, education, media, and healing arts. For over a decade, I’ve worked across disciplines building a foundation that’s grounded in curiosity, adaptability, and care.My work is rooted in relational thinking and guided by a desire to reconnect people to what matters: the earth, their body, and each other.
To live in this world you must be able to do three things: to love what is mortal; to hold it against your bones knowing your own life depends on it; and, when the time comes to let it go, to let it go.— Mary Oliver —

Sound Meditation
Sound journeys utilize the power of vibration and attention to guide people into deep meditation. Not only are we 70% water and are therefore physically affected by sound frequencies, but our minds and energy bodies are affected too. We pick up on the “vibes” around us, which help us sense our way through the world. Our moods and productivity can shift with certain music and sounds (nature and our own hum are especially calming to us). Not only that, but the more we practice the art of listening, the more we deepen our ability to be present in the moment. At it's most basic, sound meditation just means "following the sound." Whenever your mind wanders, you come back to the sounds around you. By doing this simple thing, you strengthen your concentraion, listening skills, ability to relax, and more. It is a form of meditation that is easy and accessible to everyone.
Sense
Energy Work
Energy, in traditional contexts, relates to your "life force" and is rooted in centuries old observations about how that life force as well as your intention, emotion, and breath all interact and influence you. When a person’s energetic (or subtle) body is out of balance, it can lead to physical, emotional, or mental challenges. Energy work aims to restore balance and harmony to the system. Have you ever noticed that when someone else seems grounded and present in a situation, you begin to feel better just by being in their presence? This is a simple example of "vibes" or how energy bodies interact with each other and how energy work can change our states of well-being. Many healing modalities such as acupuncture, qi gong, TCM, yoga, craniosacral therapy, osteopathy, and reiki all work with the energetic body or life force (also known as qi or prana). These are the parts of you that don’t show up on a lab report but still shape how you feel, move, and relate to the world. You can explore your energy body by listening deeply and paying close attention to the sensations in and around you. Learning to feel and work with your energetic system can help you better understand yourself and live with more ease.

Feel
Somatic Work
It’s through the mind-body connection that we know emotional, psychological, and spiritual challenges can manifest physically and that getting back into our bodies can help create balance. We live in a world where a lot of emphasis is placed on our intelligence, productivity, and mind, disconnecting us from our environments and selves. Somatic work brings your awareness back into the living, breathing being that is you. Sometimes this requires intentional methods such as breathwork, massage, or yoga, modalities that help us tap into our creature intelligence. But it can also be as simple as feeling the sun on your face, the laughter in your belly, or noticing the strange magic of being a body made of water, microbes, electricity, and memory. The body is intelligent; let’s have a conversation with it.
Connect
Community Events
Community events are in-person gatherings that aim to offer inner and outer connection. They typically incorporate sound mediation, breathwork, vocalization, writing, gentle movement, and group sharing. They are sometimes donation-based or involve collaborations with special guests. Everyone is welcome.

PRICING
Sound Meditation
I provide a structured format that guides people through light breathwork, vocalization, and listening practice using overtone-emitting instruments. These include a 32” gong, Himalayan singing bowls, shruti box, flutes, chimes, rainsticks, drums, and more. I do not use crystal bowls at this time. Sessions tend to be 1-1.5 hours but can be shorter or longer by request.Individual: Start at $90 for 1 hourGroups: $40/person (3 or more people)Events: Start at $200 and are dependent on travel
Energry Work
I use a biodynamic craniosacral-based approach for a gentle, non-invasive treatment. This means sessions often involve light touch or extended holds, including holding your feet, tailbone, or head. However, touch is not necessarily required to do this work.
Sessions start with a short conversation and are typically 1 hour long, but can sometimes go longer. Sessions will not exceed 1.5 hours.Single session: $100 for 1-1.5 hoursStarter Package: Get 3 for $250
Somatic Work
Somatic work encompasses a range of techniques that are more body-focused. This includes breathwork, vocalization, craniosacral-based energy work, and Thai yoga or osteopathy inspired bodywork.Depending on the goal, a combination of modalities can be used.Starting at $100/hr
ABOUT
Philosophy
Mission and Values
My goal is to empower people to be their most alive selves through sound, body, and nature-based practices. I root these practices in an ecological understanding of the world and draw on our human need for social connection to help people stay grounded. I like to approach my work with a curious, lighthearted, and down-to-earth tone. I don't believe in "healing" so much as I believe in self-exploration and self-knowledge, and in the power of simplicity, agency, and time to help us in that exploration. We are complex, layered beings living in a complex and layered world. And while we all contain different realities, ways of dreaming, hoping, loving, grieving, and feeling, and move through the world in different languages and across cultural lenses and biomes, we are all made of the same star stuff. We all feel the same things. So whatever brought you here – pain, grief, curiosity, hope, desire – you're not alone. It is the privelege and journey of a lifetime to explore those inner and outer layers, and I aim to create containers that feel spacious enough to do that.

My Background
Training and Experience
In 2007, I became Reiki level I and II certified through the University of Minnesota as part of the health sciences program in the Center for Spirituality and Healing. My teachers were research nurses who came from the traditional Usui lineage. In the mid-2010s, I lived at a Taoist temple and studied tai chi and meditation through Master Waysun Liao’s lineage. In 2020, I became certified as a sound meditation facilitator through the Woom Center in NYC. In 2024, I lived in Thailand and Indonesia, completing over 400 hours of study in Thai yoga bodywork, myofascial release, and osteopathy-inspired Thai bodywork. I also completed 100 hours of biodynamic craniosacral-based energy work. I am an avid student of yoga, music, and dance and have helped teach and guide meditations across the globe.
Formally, I am a biologist and anthropologist by training. For many years, I worked in academia, doing scientific research. Then I spent time teaching science in Ghana and guiding environmental education programs in New York City. During the pandemic, I pivoted to journalism and covered wellness, psychedelics, and consciousness technologies. Through it all, I've worked in community-centered spaces focused on learning, healing, and public engagement.
